"Tom MCrae - 'One More Mile'"
You see a lot of things when you tend bar especially in a bar like this.
New faces pass through my doors every day, new lives brought into our old and more stories; most of them better or worse than the one before.
None as bleak as the story those Winchester boys were carrying when they walked through my doors.
Should have figured something was wrong by the way they were carrying themselves, all heavy shoulders and long heavy footsteps. Should have seen the grief they were feeling but grief’s a funny thing and it takes people in all kinds of ways.
Sam, his grief is blatant. It’s written across his face, in his eyes, and I’ve never seen a young boy look so tired. Dean, he doesn’t show it as much but doesn’t mean he feels it any less. He’s his father’s son that’s for damn certain, John was the same way.
The boys are lucky to have one another, don’t think either of them would get very far if they were alone in this. Course, the way Dean keeps going Sam might well be alone in this but that’s not for me to say.
I see a lot of things when people step through those doors but I never saw true despair until I clapped eyes on the Winchester boys. Here’s to hoping they’re strong enough for each other because the only way they’re going to get through this is together.
Let’s hope John taught them well enough.
